A case of raping a nurse for 21 years by making false
promise of marriage has come to light in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. A 59-year-old
man posted as a lab technician in the Health Department was arrested on Friday
for allegedly raping her. The case is related to a 36-year-old nurse, who has
filed a petition against Chintamani Sharma (59) in the court of Chief Judicial
Magistrate (CJM) Sabiha Khatoon.
Case registered after court order
Hearing the petition, the CJM on Thursday ordered the
police to register a case against the accused. After this, a case was
registered at Suryava police station on Friday under sections 376 (rape), 427
(abuse) and 323 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the accused
was arrested from Varanasi.
Made close on pretext of studies
And Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Miss
Meenakshi Katyayan said that the accused and the complainant lived in the same
place. The accused grew close to the girl on the pretext of helping her in
studies. At that time, the girl was 15 years old and was living with her family
in Varanasi district.
Gave false promises of marriage
The officer said that Sharma allegedly raped her by
threatening her and continued to have physical relations with her as time
passed. Katyayan said, "Sharma continuously sexually exploited her by
promising to marry her, he secretly married someone else but kept deceiving her
and having physical relations with her."
Would visit Bhadohi, would rape
The SP said that after completing her studies, the complainant took up a contractual job as a nurse. She was posted at the Community Health Center and was also allotted a quarter. And Sharma, posted in Varanasi, used to come to Bhadohi and have physical relations with the complainant. The SP said that when the nurse talked about marriage, he allegedly abused her, beat her and vandalised her house. Katyayan said, 'Sharma was arrested from Varanasi on Friday. and The nurse has been sent for medical examination and her written statement will be recorded in the court soon.
