The
Supreme Court has recently expressed its displeasure towards free schemes. The
court believes that people are not ready to work due to free facilities.
Justice BR Gavai said that unfortunately, people are not ready to work due to
these free facilities. He gave the example that people are getting free ration
and money without working. This situation is having a negative impact in the
society, due to which people are becoming dependent on things available for
free instead of working.
People dependent only on free facilities
The
bench also said that it would be better if people join the mainstream of
society and contribute to the development of the country. This is important,
because if people depend only on free facilities, they will also lose their
development prospects. Attorney General R. Venkataramani told that the Central
Government is working on the Urban Poverty Eradication Mission. Under this
mission, various issues including the arrangement of shelter for the homeless
in urban areas will be resolved. The court has adjourned the hearing on this
matter for 6 weeks. The bench directed the Attorney General to ask the Central
Government when this mission will be implemented.
The Supreme Court has fixed the date of hearing on the petition challenging the law related to the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners. This hearing will be held on February 19. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N Kotishwar Singh gave information about this case. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, on behalf of the petitioner NGO ADR, argued that the appointment of the new Chief Election Commissioner is going to happen soon, so the petition needs to be heard soon.
